Most of the tourist attractions in Batumi center around the Sea Side Zone in the north-central part of town. The New Boulevard sits south and west of the Sea Side Zone, featuring many new high-rise buildings and aparthotels. Batumi’s older quarter, also known as Beregi, is a short distance southeast of the Sea Side Zone.

The city center lies a short walk away from the shore and has no shortage of great places to stay, making it perfect for first-time visitors. This is where you can find the best budget hotels in Batumi as well as tons of cozy restaurants and cafes. There are even a few craft beer bars (craft beer is slowly catching on in Georgia).
Hotel Old Town is one of the best places to find a great combination of services and savings. The rooms are simple, but the property boasts a fantastic rooftop bar and elegant exterior. Another one of the most affordable hotels in town (though a little further from the actual center) is the cozy, family-run Marani Hotel.

New Boulevard (aka Pivzavod)

👉 Best Area For Families | ✨ Best New Boulevard Hotels: Grand Gloria Hotel • Orbi City Sea View Rooms for Batumi • Best Western Plus Batumi
The New Boulevard is the name given to the southern end of Batumi’s urban coastline. Here, you can find high-rise apartment buildings, many of which house condominiums and apartment hotels.
This makes New Boulevard a great place to stay for families visiting Batumi. The aparthotels have home-like facilities such as kitchens and washing machines. The area is a little less crowded than the more central neighborhoods and there are amusement park-style attractions by the seaside, such as the Batumi Lunapark.
Many aparthotels in Batumi have the amenities of fancier hotels, but at a lower price. Some, such as Orbi City Sea View Rooms, even have a private beach area.
Pros of Staying in New Boulevard:

- Not quite as busy as the central parts of town
- A good selection of restaurants
Cons of Staying in New Boulevard:
- Further from the main attractions

The Sea Side Zone is where much of the magic happens in Batumi. You’ll find Batumi Beach on the northern edge of town along with tons of great restaurants, cafes, and attractions.
The Sea Side Zone is also where many of the fanciest hotels stand. Each of these Batumi hotels offers spacious rooms (many with a sea view), and all the amenities you could want.
The Sheraton Batumi Hotel is one of the best luxury hotels in Batumi. It features an indoor swimming pool (as well as a seasonal outdoor one), a fitness center, and a Turkish-style hammam spa. On the 20th floor, it has the only restaurant and bar with a full 360 panorama view of the city. The Sheraton is also one of the best pet-friendly hotels in the city.
Pros of Staying in the Sea Side Zone:
- Close to the beach and most of the main tourist attractions

Tips for Staying in Batumi
Beat the Summer Crowds by Visiting in September

Batumi goes into party mode in the summer with its beaches and music festivals. This is fun for locals, tourists, and digital nomads alike, but it also means that Batumi gets jam-packed with people.
Crowds start to disperse in September, but the weather remains just as nice. Room rates also start to go down and many seasonal restaurants remain open. This makes September and even early October, by far, the best time to visit Batumi.
Know the Difference Between Hotels and Aparthotels

Many of the hotels in Batumi are actually apartment hotels or apartments labeled as hotels. They are all fine places, but it’s a good idea to do your research. Some aparthotels won’t have the familiar features of actual hotels, so keep this in mind when booking.
Many properties also have very similar names. It’s a good idea to use the links I provide throughout this article because they link directly to the recommended property.
Try Adjarian Khachapuri

Georgia is a nation with many microregions. Each one has a unique take on the trademark Georgian cheese-bread dish, khachapuri. Adjara, the southwestern coastal region in which Batumi is located, is known for its boat-shaped variation of the dish.
Most restaurants in Batumi offer this savory Adjarian Khachapuri. But be warned, you might not have room left in your stomach for anything else!
Bring a Rain Jacket
The Southwestern Black Sea Coast where Batumi is located is the rainiest part of Georgia. The summer months tend to see less rain, but it’s always good to come prepared.

Rent a Scooter to Get Around

Batumi is a walkable city, but there are scooters available around town, too. Scan the scooter’s QR code with your phone to download the app and you can get going in no time! Riding a scooter can be a ton of fun on a beautiful day, or, it can help you get out of the rain quicker if the clouds roll in.

Thanks for the post! 3 questions:
1) Top attractions for 2/3 day trip?
2) Is there public transportation in the city?
3) How easy/ difficult is it to navigate the city for an English speaker?
Thanks!
Hey Jane,
You’re welcome!
1. I’d say the top attractions for that length of trip are Batumi Boulevard, the Alphabet Tower, the Argo Cable Cars, and the Botanical Garden.
2. Batumi has buses and minibuses that you can pay for with your credit card (although it may take a moment longer to scan foreign cards). I’d recommend using the Bolt and YandexTaxi apps, which are very affordable, if slightly more expensive that a bus. Buses tend to get crowded, too, especially at peak hours.
3. It’s not difficult. Many of the younger people speak English and many signs will be in both English and Georgian. The city is also on the smaller side, with most of the major attractions being along the shore or close to the city center.
Hello dear Matthew,
I would like to ask you that which platform is most popular in Batumi for to book otel or apartment?
Hey Salima!
Booking.com is the most popular choice for hotels and apartments in Batumi. They have the widest variety, and, often, the best rates.
You might also consider Agoda.com. Sometimes they will have lower prices for some properties than Booking.com. However, in my experience, Booking.com usually has the best deals of any platform when it comes to Batumi and other places in Georgia.
