San Diego has played a pivotal role for so many groups throughout history. It’s no surprise that there are tons of historical sites and landmarks! In fact, The Kumeyaay (the first inhabitants of the land), the Spanish (who used the city as the launching point for their conquest of California), Mexicans, and U.S. settlers have all left their indelible marks on the city.
