Catherine Driver is a travel writer and tour guide from Vancouver, Canada. Her first taste of travel was back in the nineties on a school trip to Europe. And she hasn’t stopped since. After a year-long stint teaching English in Madrid, Spain, Catherine is now back home in Vancouver. When she’s not planning her next adventure abroad, she can be found enjoying live music and training for her next Camino.

✔️ Fun Facts: I walked the 800 km Camino de Santiago in 37 days. I moved to Spain in my forties to teach English. I have visited 20 countries.

I had just moved to Madrid, Spain, and was having lunch with a friend at a restaurant near my apartment. I was chatting with our server and mentioned that I was from Canada.
As I was leaving, she was with a group at another table. I saw her point to me and say “She’s from Canada too!”. They turned out to be a super cool band from Montreal. They told us to come to their show that night at a little neighborhood music bar called Fun House. So, we did!
It became my favorite place to see bands and I spent countless amazing nights there during my year in Madrid! I love the serendipity of travel!
Depending on how much time you have, pick one country and explore it well. The famous sites are amazing, but there is so much to discover about a place when you take the time to get to know it.
I use both, but I prefer a suitcase
